If you have Mexican Sterling Silver jewelry that is a signed piece from the Taxco region of Mexico then you are probably in the money. The artists and designers of this region are renowned for their handmade workmanship, design and quality, especially the ones from the 1930's through the 1960's.
Williams Spratling arrived in the region from the United States in 1930 and began a tradition of making pre-columbian sterling silver style pieces by hand. His artisans and others in the area began to create a dynasty of sterling silver artistry in jewelry making.
Some of the more famous artists include Antonio Pineda, Hector Aguilar, Margot Castillo, Artemio Navarette, Alfonso Mondragon, and Valentin Vidaurreta. There are also dozens of others.
The values of these jewelry pieces range from $50 per troy ounce to $300 per troy ounce. Upon occasion some pieces can be worth even more money.
