What are Native American (formerly known as Indian) Jewelry Silver Squash Blossom Necklaces with Turquoise Worth?
There are several variables that will affect the value of Native American Silver Squash Blossom Necklaces, but in general most are valued retail at between $1,000 to $2,000 per necklace, providing that they are of a substantial weight between 160 to 200 grams and that they are decorated with a good quality of turquoise.
Some can be worth more if made by an artist that is considered to be rare and highly collectible. There are also varying qualities of turquoise like Kingman or spider web turquoise that can make the value also increase.
If the necklace has no turquoise and is just purely silver, it is likely the value will be 20-35% lower in value than its counterparts that are made with turquoise.
You can typically find squash blossoms at antique shops, coin stores, pawn shops and estate jewelry stores. If you live out west, there are an abudance of Native American trading posts that sell this kind of jewelry. One of our favorites is the main gift shop at Monument Valley in the Navajo/Dine Nation in Arizona.
If you are not able to shop locally, there are several hundred squash blossom available on websites like Ebay, Etsy, Rubylane and other resale sites. You have many choices available so take your time and shop around for these necklaces.
If I want to sell my squash blossom necklaces made by Native American how much less than retail can I expect to receive?
Because of the extensive amount of squash blossoms out there on the market, unfortunately if you go to sell them to a second hand shop or on-line buyer such as ourselves, you will likely only get 25-40% of the retail cost or around 1.25 to 1.5x the melt value (including being weighed with stones) for your squash blossoms. You can always certainly try to sell the item yourself on Ebay or Etsy, but could take a long time with all the competition and not everyone is always up for wanting to be their own on-line merchant.
